It has never been easier to invest, it has never been more difficult to build an investment portfolio.
Let’s take the example of mutual funds. There is one for every need that you have.
And it is probably the easiest to invest in too.
Just select your scheme based on 5 star ratings, go to one of the several apps and within a few minutes your investment is done.
So easy!
Repeat a few times and you have a portfolio.
…
Really?
What you just did is known as “putting the cart before the horse.”
You made the same mistakes as everyone else. Random transactions based on easily available info.
If you ask me, transactions is the last stage in the process.
There is a lot more that goes into investment planning. You need to know your destination, assess where you are today, what resources can you make available and then decide how you will reach the destination.
But then you have questions like –
How much of your money should be invested and where? Should you have more of fixed income or more of equity?
Does the amount of real estate in your portfolio make sense? Or should you buy more Gold?
Two words should suffice to find your answers – “plan” and “structure“.
Announcing the 2018 edition of Money and You workshop on financial planning, investing, money and mutual funds.
The Money and You workshop is about helping you build that plan and structure your portfolio in line with your needs and goals (and not your banker’s or friends/colleagues).
In this workshop, you will:
- Build your own financial plan in line with your goals.
- Determine your asset allocation
- Check if your current investments are right for you
- Move closer to having your own investment portfolio
The workshop will also have a section on taking a structured approach to selecting mutual funds.
An approach that is based on some important fundamental questions. That enables you to take a deep dive beyond the aura of the stars.
We will take up questions such as:
- How to shortlist the mutual funds for a portfolio?
- How much weightage is to be given to Equity – Multi caps, large caps, mid caps or small caps and Debt – Short, Medium, Long Term?
- How many funds to have in the portfolio? 1, 5, 10 or 20?
- What are the tax implications in mutual funds, both debt and equity? (specially, after Budget 2018)
- What is the impact of SEBI’s categorisation and rationalisation on mutual fund schemes?
The “Money and You ” workshop will help you become aware of where you are today with your money and what concrete steps you should be taking to get that early retirement, fund your children’s education, set aside money for your own venture and many more decisions.
You will walk out with an actionable plan that you can immediately start putting into practice and get some quick wins.
You don’t need prior knowledge for attending this workshop.
You will bring your own device (laptop/tablet) with Spreadsheet software to work with your own data. You will build your plan and chart out your own asset allocation and investments.
Since this is an action oriented workshop which needs a lot of focus, the number of seats are limited – only 12. First come, first serve.
So, if you are planning to change the way you look at your money and investments, register now.
It will also be ideal if you join in with your spouse (if you have one). You see, it takes 2 to tango and finances definitely need your spouse’s support. It will also help build the necessary bridges to walk down your financial journey.
